I have been in charge of running Mustard Seed (as a volunteer) for three wonderful year’s now and I am proud to report the charity is still going from strength to strength.
My main focus again this year has been to raise the profile of our wonderful charity locally and nationally. Through a strong marketing effort another 25 schools and 25 businesses from around the country agreed to take part in the ‘Love in a Box’ campaign.
With the kind generosity of our supporters old and new the charity was able to send an impressive 43,000 Christmas gifts filled with ‘Love’ to disadvantaged children of Romania, Moldova and the Ukraine. I can assure you each and every box was truly cherished.
Also with help from our supporters we were able to send 24 tonnes of much needed humanitarian aid to needy children and their families.
2010 saw Mustard Seed continue with the much needed project work. We sent and set up 10 brand new industrial sewing machines to the orphanages in the Ukraine. This has made quite a difference to the girls who use them. They were all very excited. We also continued and expanded our ‘games room project’ The games sent such as ‘air hockey’, ‘table football’, ‘darts’ and much more were a great hit . There are 25 orphanages in the Sumy region of the Ukraine and Mustard Seed would like to set up a games room in each. Although this a large undertaking for our charity to take on I know with continued support we can make this happen and brighten up the lives of these children.
On a personal note I continue to learn about the human spirit while running this fantastic charity. I have been touched that even when hardship is knocking on the door our wonderful, compassionate and thoughtful supporters continue to think of the children and do every thing they can to help with fund raising to help make children’s lives better. This is such an inspiration to me.
The work Mustard Seed gets involved in is so worthwhile. There is no better reward for the work we do than to see a child smile, be happy and more importantly for them to know someone cares.
